Rollerskating 101: Derby Edition
Roller derby is a team sport to score points – except there is no ball. Skaters first develop strength and skating skill, then progress to strategy, teamwork and gameplay. Derby is a contact sport that includes non-contact reffing and an inclusive community.
Interested in playing Roller Derby? The NIRDS get you started on four wheels through our Rollerskating 101: Derby Edition Classes taught through Cumberland Rec Centre. This beginner level rollerskating class teaches skills such as safe falls, stops, crossovers, transitions, and backwards skating using a roller derby fitness curriculum.
